Escape the daily grind and take a beautiful drive from Dallas to a nearby hidden gem called, Cedar Creek Lake.

It’s only about an hour, hour and a half from Dallas and you can take over the whole 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home right on the lake, complete with private dock, kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, and gorgeous lake views from the living room, dining room, kitchen, master bedroom, and back patio.

Let the stress melt away as you enjoy the countryside on the drive out of the city.

When you pull up to the home, you will instantly know that you have some priceless experiences and memories in store for you, your family, and friends.

Fall time photo, no leaves or grass. Much greener in the Spring and Summer of course!

The home boasts 10 beds and sleeps 12. Plus, this lake house is pet friendly so you can bring your furry friends too.

There are lots of fun board games including a mini pool table, ping pong, checkers, chess, cornhole, and more.

The main drag is just minutes away and has all the conveniences you might need if you want to go grocery shopping, or pick something up from the local Walmart.

There are plenty of food chain options, and even more excellent dine-in restaurant options.

There are even two restaurants right on the lake that you can access from your boat or car!

The launch ramp is just a few doors down so you can bring your own watercraft and tie up to the private dock.

If you are into fishing, you can fish right off the dock! Just walk right down the backyard and drop your line in.

Our two boys spent a very impressive amount of “quiet time” fishing off the dock.

The first time we stayed there, they didn’t catch anything, but some of the anglers a few docks down were doing great, catching crappie.

The last time we went, our oldest tried garlic nightcrawlers and caught two catfish! (Or maybe the same catfish twice. It was small so we threw it back.)

Our 7 year old was content to spend most of the day paddling me around on one of the paddleboards.

We cruised the calm and quiet cove for about an hour before we got more adventurous and headed out toward the open lake.

We got to the open lake and it was amazing!!

The views! The warm weather, the cool water. PRICELESS.

But the clouds were getting a little dark so we headed back into the cove.

Elena waiting for me to stop taking pictures and get back into the water, lol.

Making the standup paddle board and the kayaks accessible was super important so that my family and I, as well as our guests, would be able to easily get the water toys into the water.

So, I moved everything from the garage to this spot under the stairs, a short walk to the water.

Now you can just pull the toys down to the water and start having fun!

And then it was time to chill 🙂

The back patio is sooo relaxing.

Here’s me enjoying the rocking chairs on the back patio during the Fall.

Oh, yeah, we’ve been once during the Fall, and twice during the Spring.

As I write this, Summer is almost here and we can’t wait to get back out to the lake!!!

I woke up before anyone else and had some quiet coffee time to myself 🙂

One of the most mind-blowing things about Texas for me personally, was when I discovered that they have lakes.

Having been born and raised in California, and living in California my whole life, I had only been to Texas a couple of times.

Once, in high school, around 1995 or ’96. I went with my best friend Garry and his family in a road trip to visit his grandparents down in Corpus Cristy, down near the beach.

Then, once as an adult, for a business trip, I went to Dallas, and stayed in the city the whole time.

That’s why Texas wasn’t really on my radar when I was trying to figure out how I could afford to get some lake front property in California.

I spent so many hours searching up and down California, for even an empty lot that I could build a shack on, just to be close to a lake.

But all the nearby lakes were very expensive, and the ones that were within my budget were all very far from where I was living in San Diego.

So I started looking nationwide.

When I started looking more seriously at Texas, I discovered that in the northern parts of Texas, in and around Dallas, there are actually quite a few lakes.

There are even trees there too! Who knew?!

And, we could actually afford to live near a lake!

AND, we could help my mom-in-law get a second home, RIGHT ON A LAKE!!!

Fast-forward 2.5 years and here we are, will a beautiful lakefront home with private dock, complete with sundeck, a quiet secluded cove, easy access to the main lake, and so much more.

My family used to drive 4 hours from Los Angeles to the lake that we would vacation at in California.

Now, in just over an hour we can be at this lake house and sipping our favorite drinks while floating in the sun.

AND, the best part? You can too!
